Compliance status
qa.swansea.ac.uk is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA/A standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non accessible content

Swansea University is committed to sustaining Level AA accessibility. The following information explains any areas of the website that to our knowledge are not conformant and what we’re doing to make that happen. The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Image Descriptions
The website has some pages that have poor descriptions of images that do not give suitable information and in some cases repeat page content. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).

Links and use of color
The website has has some pages that links are only distinguishable by color, rather than having an additional visual cue. This is mainly links in paragraphs or breadcrumbs. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.1 (Use of Color).

Keyboard Navigation and ReciteMe
The website generally has accessible keyboard navigation. However, if accessibility tools (ReciteMe) are activated the keyboard tab focus order is broken, focus rings are missing and general keyboard navigation is broken in a way that stops further navigation of the page by keyboard. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.2.1 (Keyboard), 2.1.2 (Keyboard trap), 2.4.3 (Focus Order).

No way to skip Navigation

The website does not have skip to main content functionality for keyboard only users. The means they must tab through all menu items to reach main page content. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.1 (Bypass Blocks).

General Error Messages in Forms

Errors in Third-party forms are generic and do not state the field or type of error to be addressed. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.3.3 (Error Suggestion).

ARIA States
Automated testing has reported that an expected ARIA state is not present on links, this may impact screen readers users. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value).
